Loughrea U15 Boys Shine in Dominant Friendly Win

A fantastic performance on Thursday saw the Loughrea U15 boys claim an impressive 24–7 victory over Ballinasloe in a lively friendly encounter. From the first whistle, the lads showed great teamwork, energy, and determination, with every player contributing to a well-earned win. Their strong defence and sharp attacking play kept Ballinasloe under pressure throughout, capping off a brilliant all-round display. Well done to all involved — a great boost as the season builds momentum!

u14 Boys Shine Against Claremorris

Loughrea hosted Claremorris at 16:00 on Saturday afternoon with Loughrea coming out on top in a competitive game, 41pts to 26pts. Loughrea had a strong start scoring the first 2 tries through no 8 Shay Gallagher on 5 minutes with a conversation by Antoni Jakuboszczak. No 13 Antoni Jacoboszczak was next to cross the line on 10mins followed by a conversation by Danny Burke. Claremorris were next to touch down through a strong carry by no 13 Conor Murphy on 12mins conversation by Samuel Doyle.
Loughrea’s Shay Gallagher managed another try for the home side on 18 minutes.
Danny Burke dotted down a 4th for Loughrea on the 26th minute of the first half.
Claremorris’ were first to score 9 minutes into the second half through no 3 Daniel Martin. Loughrea struck back 4 minutes later through centre Antoni Jakuboszczak and managed another through a great pickup on the 5m line from openside Niall Brett who crossed the line under pressure and Antoni Jakuboszczak successfully converted.
Claremorris finished strong with a second try from Conor Murphy on 47mins converted by no 20 Conall Boyle. Loughrea scrum half Aaron Kelly touched the ball down on the line on the 49th minute. Claremorris had the final say with a last play try by their own scrum half Conall Kelly which was converted by no 20 Conall Boyle.

Loughrea u14g Yellow Continue Perfect Start with Dominant Win over Claremorris/Tuam

Loughrea made it four wins from four on Saturday with a superb 36–0 victory at home to Claremorris/Tuam in Round 4 of Division 1B. On a crisp November afternoon, the home side wasted no time making their mark — Bianca Musharu bursting out of the blocks with an early try inside the opening minute to lead 5–0.

Their momentum kept rolling as Leah Headd crossed the line after just seven minutes, doubling the advantage to 14–0. Bianca then finished off a flowing team move before Emma Concannon calmly added the conversion to send Loughrea into halftime with a commanding 17–0 lead.

The second half began just as brightly, with Bianca touching down again to make it 22–0. Leah Headd bagged her second try of the day, and Emma’s conversion pushed the score to 29–0. Loughrea’s relentless work rate and slick handling were rewarded once more after a superb nine-phase build-up ended with Aoibhinn Starr dotting down, Emma adding the extras for a final score of 36–0.

It was a tremendous all-round performance — disciplined, dynamic, and full of attacking flair. Every player played their part, showing that teamwork and hard work truly do pay off. Four from four, and Loughrea’s momentum shows no sign of slowing!

Loughrea U18 Girls Triumph Over Sligo in Entertaining Clash

The Loughrea U18 girls continued their fine form with a strong 36–22 win over Sligo in Ballygasty yesterday. The home side came flying out of the gates, stunning the visitors with three early tries from open play to take control of the match.

Sligo found their rhythm midway through the first half, responding with a well-crafted try and then capitalising on their effective kicking game to narrow the gap before the break. But when the pressure came on, Loughrea showed real composure and flair. The girls regrouped, tightened their defence, and unleashed some stylish attacking rugby in the second half — adding three more tries to seal a deserved victory.

It was an all-round team effort, with standout displays from Katie Griffin, Amy Moran, Niamh Brady, Addyson Darcy, Saoirse Cahill, and Caoilinn Corban. However, the player of the match honours went to Hilaire Byrnes, whose tireless work in the forwards — marked by powerful carries and relentless tackling — set the tone for a memorable team performance.

Another great day for Loughrea rugby — six tries, plenty of heart, and a well-earned win!

Loughrea u18.5s Edge Monivea in Battle of the Unbeatens

Loughrea made the short trip to Monivea on Sunday for a much-anticipated Division 1B clash between two unbeaten sides — and they didn’t disappoint, coming away with a hard-fought 32–24 victory.

The visitors settled quickly into the contest, striking early through Donal Nugent to take control. Whenever Loughrea managed to keep possession and build phases, they looked dangerous, and their patience in attack was rewarded with further scores as the game developed. Monivea, to their credit, never backed down and were rewarded just before halftime with a deserved try after sustained pressure.

The second half saw both sides trade blows in a fast-paced, physical encounter, but Loughrea’s composure and depth proved decisive. Tries from Donal Nugent, Aidan Headd, and Paddy Malone — coupled with strong contributions from the bench — ensured Loughrea maintained their unbeaten record.

The 32–24 win keeps Loughrea’s momentum rolling in Division 1B, and attention now turns to their next outing in a few weeks’ time when they welcome Carrick-on-Shannon to Ballygasty.

Brave Loughrea U16 Girls Show Heart in Spirited Battle with Sligo

The Loughrea U16 Girls travelled to Sligo on Sunday afternoon for a spirited and hard-fought encounter, with both sides showcasing the growing strength of girls’ rugby in Connacht. Despite a 40–21 scoreline in favour of the home team, the Loughrea girls can be proud of a superb all-round performance full of determination, teamwork, and heart.

Led by their captain, Emily Clarke, Loughrea showed real intent from the opening whistle. The forwards worked tirelessly at the breakdown, while the backs displayed great handling and pace to create scoring opportunities. Ally Cannon was in outstanding form, crossing the line for three well-taken tries, each finished with power and precision.

Adding to the team’s tally, Maria Jakuboszczak was flawless from the tee, converting all three tries with accuracy and composure.

Sligo’s depth and experience eventually told on the scoreboard, but Loughrea refused to back down. The girls continued to tackle bravely and defend as a unit right to the final whistle, showing immense character and team spirit under Clarke’s steady leadership.

Coaches and supporters alike were full of praise for the players’ attitude and effort throughout the match. Every member of the squad contributed to a strong, competitive display that bodes well for the rest of the season.
