As we approach the end of the league campaign, there are a smaller number of fixtures taking place. Currently the following teams are through to their respective league semi-finals:

U13 Boys – Loughrea Overpowers Monivea with Dominant Display
In a thrilling encounter, Loughrea showcased their attacking prowess and collective effort to secure a convincing 33-5 victory over Monivea. Despite a strong defensive showing from the visitors in the first half, Loughrea’s persistence and precision eventually broke the resistance in a match defined by standout individual performances and cohesive team play.
Monivea struck first, with their number 18, Leo Zarodov, electrifying the crowd as he sprinted from deep inside his own territory to touch down for the opening try. It was a spectacular effort that momentarily put Loughrea on the back foot.
However, the home side quickly responded, with Shay Gallagher (12) leading the charge. Gallagher found a gap in Monivea’s defenses to score Loughrea’s opening try, which was duly converted by Luke Dunne (10). Gallagher struck again shortly after, with Dunne once again adding the extras to put Loughrea in control.
Antoni Jakuboszczak (14) extended the lead with a well-taken try, converted yet again by the reliable boot of Dunne. Scrum-half Aaron Kelly (9) impressed with his high-tempo play and was rewarded for his efforts with a sharp sniping try of his own. Jakuboszczak wasn’t done yet, crossing the line for a second time and converting it himself to seal a dominant performance.
Loughrea’s team effort stood out as they combined disciplined defense with creative and selfless attacking play. Every player contributed to the victory, with standout performances from Kelly and Gallagher highlighting the depth of talent in the side.
The final scoreline of Loughrea 33 (5 tries, 4 conversions) to Monivea’s 5 (1 try) underlined their dominance and set a strong tone for the rest of the campaign.
U14 Boys – Loughrea with Strong Win over Claremorris
The Lads from Loughrea completed their league fixtures with a strong win over Claremorris, running in 4 tries to win 2212-22. Loughrea now face Dunmore in the league semi-final.
Loughrea U16 Girls Triumph Over Dunmore in Final League Clash
Under the bright lights in Loughrea, the U16 girls delivered a scintillating performance in their final league fixture against Dunmore, securing a dominant 45-17 victory. The stage is now set for a thrilling rematch in the upcoming league semi-final.
Dunmore exploded out of the gates with a converted try straight from the kickoff, catching Loughrea momentarily off guard. However, the home side quickly regrouped, with player of the match Rhea Sestak spearheading a spirited response. Sestak proved unstoppable in the first half, crossing the line for four tries with her powerful runs and elusive footwork that left Dunmore’s defense in tatters.
The second half saw Dunmore open the scoring again, but Loughrea’s Addyson D’Arcy responded with a determined try, converted by Amy Moran. Despite another well-executed score from Dunmore, Loughrea maintained their dominance. Sestak added a fifth try to her tally, while captain Amy Moran capped off a commanding team display with a try of her own.
Throughout the match, Loughrea showcased their growing prowess, with fluid offloads, precise handling, and incisive running lines from the backs. Their all-round performance underlined their credentials as title contenders.
