Loughrea RFC AGM 2026 – Summary

Loughrea RFC held its Annual General Meeting on Thursday, 18 June 2026, in Ballygasty, with a strong attendance from club members.

The meeting received and adopted the President’s Report, Secretary’s Report and Treasurer’s Report, reflecting on another successful season both on and off the field. Members acknowledged the continued growth of the club, the success of the Centenary celebrations, improvements in governance and facilities, and the ongoing development of rugby across all age grades.

Election of Officers

The following officers were elected for the 2026/27 season:

  • President: Seamus Clancy
  • Vice President: Cathal Spellman
  • Honorary Secretary: Andrew Smith
  • Honorary Treasurer: Pat Cunningham
  • Assistant Honorary Treasurer: Patricia Cahill
  • Assistant Honorary Secretary: Gretta Collins
  • Club Welfare Officer: Lorcan Kinirons

The following members were elected to the Senior Committee:

  • John Fox
  • Mike Gibbons
  • Teresa Hardiman

As there was a single nominee for each position, all nominees were elected unopposed.

Constitution Update

Members approved a number of amendments to the Club Constitution by the required two-thirds majority. The updated Constitution will be made available on the club website.

Thanks

The club would like to thank outgoing President Cathal Spellman for his leadership and commitment over the past two years, and Stephen Cameron for his dedicated service as Honorary Treasurer.

The newly elected committee looks forward to building on the club’s recent progress and continuing the development of rugby and club facilities in Loughrea.
